Preparing the Environment: remote, blended, or in person

IMG_0570.png

We may be at school but physically distanced, we may be working entirely remotely, or we may have a blended situation. In any of those scenarios, we need to prepare the environment to meet the needs of our adolescent communities.

Let’s share ideas about what adolescents need in order to be independent and collaborative, to develop leadership skills, and to continue to feel some agency in a time when none of us feels much control over our lives.

Are we going to share books? computers? pencils? Will we work entirely outdoors? What is possible?

Thank you for your interest. Registration for this event is now CLOSED.

We hope to see you at one of our future events.

Charting the Course: Forming Community

IMG_0571.png

Adolescence is a time of life where feeling a sense of belonging and an ability to contribute to their community is a developmental imperative. The beginning of the year is when community is set: establishing norms, orienting to the environment and expectations, welcoming new adolescents and celebrating growth in returning students.

Adolescent programmes around the world are preparing to return to school under strange circumstances:

  • total distance learning

  • blended learning

  • in person with restrictions

Whatever situation we find ourselves in, how do we keep the adolescent central to our decision making?

Thank-you for your interest. Registration for this event is now CLOSED.

We hope to see you at one of our future events.

Montessori in a New Reality: remote learning (Evening Session)

Montessori in a New Reality remote learning.png

Let’s keep putting our heads together!

As part of a series of informal meet-ups being offered this spring, Project Erdkinder is hosting a discussion about remote learning for Montessori Adolescent Communities in this unprecedented time.

  • What are your best stories and lessons learned from remote learning so-far?

  • What will we change if we need to continue or resume remote learning?

  • How do Montessori principles guide us in this new electronic prepared environment?

These are some of the questions we’ve been asking ourselves and maybe you have been too. We don’t presume to know the answers but hope you join the conversation.

Hosted by past faculty of the AMI Orientation to Adolescent Studies:

Erin Foley-Wirts, Susan Holmes-Glazier, Emily Dowell, Tony Losasso, Colin Polombi, and Chris Marks

Click the SIGN UP button below to register for this conversation. Indicate your time preference and a Zoom invite will be sent out to you.

Note: Times listed are Eastern Time.

As the saying goes, two heads are better than one, so just imagine what’s possible with a whole bunch of heads!

As part of a series of informal meet-ups being offered this spring, Project Erdkinder is hosting a discussion about bringing the 2020 school year to a close in this unprecedented time.

  • How do we honour graduates and others leaving the community?

  • How can student progress be assessed and communicated to them and families?

  • What are we going to do with all the stuff in student lockers?

These are some of the questions we’ve been asking ourselves and maybe you have been too. We don’t presume to know the answers but hope you join the conversation.
